Gaming giant Konami Digital Entertainment has officially unveiled its latest original action-adventure title, Rhapsody in Scarlet, setting its scene in the glamorous yet perilous backdrop of 1920s New York City.

The publisher confirmed that the game is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

In Rhapsody in Scarlet, players step into the shoes of Ellie Myers, a spirited young Magus and aspiring jazz singer who moves to the Big Apple to chase her dreams. Beneath the city’s glowing skyscrapers and bustling nightlife, however, lies a shadow world where secret magic users clash. Ellie soon finds herself dragged into a dangerous conspiracy involving a mysterious mafia organization, forcing her to harness both magic and mystical beasts to protect the city.

The gameplay promises high-octane combo-based combat, allowing players to fluidly chain melee strikes, long-range spells, and area-of-effect abilities while summoning Mystical Beasts like her companion Sköll to turn the tide of battle.

Alongside Ellie, the storyline introduces Ilya Jones, the disciplined leader of “The Seekers”—an elite order of magi. Despite their opposing personalities—Ellie’s free-spirited nature vs. Ilya’s strict adherence to rules—the two are forced to forge an unlikely alliance as they investigate dark forces threatening both the magical and non-magical realms.

To truly capture the vibrant spirit of the Jazz Age, Konami has collaborated with renowned musical acts. The official theme song, titled “Cool/Hot”, features a high-energy swing arrangement created by the acclaimed Japanese “Death Jazz” band SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS in collaboration with Japanese-American singer-songwriter Emi Meyer. The soundtrack dynamically elevates the combat and exploration, immersing players deep into the vintage atmosphere.

While Konami has yet to confirm an official release date, the official website and Steam store page for Rhapsody in Scarlet are now live. Gamers can already add the title to their wishlist on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S to receive the latest updates on trailers and gameplay reveals.
