IKMA Asahan Opens New Member Recruitment, Calling All Asahan Students in Medan to Build Their Hometown

MEDAN – The Asahan Student Communication Association (IKMA Asahan) has officially announced the opening of its new member recruitment for college students hailing from Asahan Regency, North Sumatra.

Known as a prominent regional student organization dedicated to educating and mentoring local youth, IKMA Asahan continues its mission to foster stronger communication and solidarity among Asahan students pursuing higher education.

The General Chairman of IKMA Asahan, Muhammad Ilyas Sipahutar, S.Pd., confirmed the recruitment drive following an internal management meeting held at Indah Citra Cafe on Jalan Selamat Ketaren, MMTC Medan Perjuangan.

“IKMA is a regional organization actively involved in social affairs. We aim to build solid communication between students, the local community, and the regional government to achieve our shared goals in line with Asahan Regency’s official motto, Rambate Rata Raya,” Ilyas told reporters.

Muhammad Ilyas Sipahutar, S.Pd., is a prominent student leader with extensive organizational experience. Prior to leading IKMA, he served as the General Chairman of the Arabic Language Education Department Student Association at UINSU and as the Head of the Organizational Apparatus Division at the UIN Student Senate. Throughout his academic journey, he has actively supported Asahan students migrating to major cities, particularly Medan, in pursuit of higher education.

The current recruitment drive invites all Asahan students who are ready to dedicate their skills, time, and efforts to driving positive progress for their home region. As one of the major regencies in North Sumatra, Asahan continues to require active contributions from its youth.

For decades, Medan has served as the primary educational hub for students originating from Asahan Regency. Thousands of young people move to the provincial capital every year to enroll in major public and private universities. IKMA Asahan acts as a vital bridge, ensuring these students maintain strong ties with their hometown while building professional networks in the city.

Through structured leadership programs, social initiatives, and public discussions, the organization prepares students to return to their communities as capable leaders. By joining IKMA, members gain valuable soft skills in community development, public speaking, and strategic advocacy that complement their academic studies.
